Christmas and New Year transfers in Bulgaria 2026: Borovets from €70, Pamporovo from €80, Bansko from €100 per car. Fixed price, no prepayment.
We drive 24/7, through the holidays too, from Sofia, Plovdiv, Stara Zagora, Varna and Burgas to the three ski resorts and back to the airports. Child seats come at no extra cost, and a delayed flight never means a waiting fee at the airport.
Card prices are for a car with up to 4 passengers, and they are per vehicle, not per person. Minivan and minibus prices, and the other two resorts from every city, are in the city-by-city section below.
Living in Bulgaria and heading to the mountains for the holidays? Flying in to spend Christmas in Bansko? Either way, the question is the same: which day, which car, and how long on the road. This page answers that for the five cities we drive from most.
Holiday bookings come in two waves, and in both of them everyone wants the same hours.
Bulgarians celebrate on Christmas Eve, 24 December, with a family dinner, so that afternoon everyone wants to be home or at the hotel before dark. On 25 and 26 December the families who had Christmas at home set off for the slopes. If you land on an evening flight on the 24th, tell us what time you need to arrive and we will plan the pick-up with time to spare.
New Year’s Eve in the mountains is popular, and the resorts are usually full. Most trips up are on 30 and 31 December; most trips down are on 1 and 2 January, when hotel packages end and everyone checks out at once. On the 31st, aim to reach your hotel before it gets dark so you can settle in without a rush.
The closer the date, the harder it is to get a free minivan or minibus at exactly the hour you want. Booking now costs you nothing: a fixed price, no prepayment, and the bill is settled with the driver on the day.
From the Unitrans price lists: car up to 4 / minivan up to 6 / minibus up to 8 people. More than 8: price on request.
From Sofia, Borovets is the quick one: about an hour and a half via Samokov. Bansko takes around 2 h 15 min on the Struma motorway, and Pamporovo is the longest ride at roughly 3 h 30 min. Sofia Airport and any address in the city cost the same.
From Plovdiv it is the other way round: Pamporovo is closest, 85 km via Asenovgrad, while Borovets and Bansko are 2 to 2½ hours away. Plovdiv Airport has the same resort prices as the city.
Stara Zagora has no airport of its own, but there is a direct ride to all three resorts: about 2 h 30 min to Pamporovo or Borovets and about 3 h 30 min to Bansko.
From Varna or Burgas Airport, the trip to the mountains takes most of a day: around 3 h 40 min from Burgas Airport to Pamporovo and around 5 h 40 min from Varna. If you spend Christmas on the coast and New Year on the slopes, leave in the morning and you will arrive in daylight.
The first days of January are also the days people fly home. City-to-airport rides by car:
By minivan and minibus: €45/€50 from Sofia, €35/€40 from Plovdiv, €35/€40 from Varna and €180/€220 from Stara Zagora to Sofia Airport. From an address in Burgas to Burgas Airport, we quote when you book.
The price lists have no ready fare from the resorts down to the airports, so we quote and confirm that price when you book. One call can cover both legs: up before the holiday, down after it.
When to leave: take the driving time, add a margin for snow and at least two hours at the airport. For a flight from Sofia Airport that means leaving Borovets about 4 hours before take-off, Bansko about 5 hours and Pamporovo about 6 hours.
All three resorts sit in the mountains, and the last stretch to each is a mountain road. Bansko is reached over the Predela pass, Borovets through Samokov and Pamporovo through Asenovgrad and Chepelare. In snow, traffic moves slower and the trip can run half an hour or more over the price-list time.
Our drivers know these roads and choose the route on the day according to the weather. The agreed price stays the same, whatever the snow, the traffic or the detour. A late-night ride after a delayed flight costs the same as a daytime one. All our drivers speak English, and a name sign at arrivals is available on request.
A sedan seats up to 4, but four suitcases and four ski bags will not fit in it, so 4 people with skis = a minivan. Holiday luggage is bigger than usual, too: presents, food for the family table, a child’s sledge. Tell us how many bags, skis and snowboards you have. Baby carriers, booster seats and child seats are free of charge.

We confirm the price straight away. For airport pick-ups we track the flight: if it lands late, waiting is free however long it takes. At an address, the first 15 minutes of waiting are free. You can also book online.
