Plovdiv Airport (PDV) is near the village of Krumovo, south-east of the city, on the road to Asenovgrad and the Rhodope Mountains. It has far fewer flights than Sofia, and many arriving guests are heading to ski in Pamporovo or Bansko, to the spa town of Hisarya or to the Black Sea. To Pamporovo and Smolyan without going through Plovdiv
Krumovo lies between Plovdiv and Asenovgrad, so the road to the mountains starts almost at the airport: through Asenovgrad, Bachkovo and Chepelare up to Pamporovo. You do not enter the city or sit in its traffic. By the price list Pamporovo is 85 km and about 1:45 h away, Smolyan 100 km and 2:15 h. It is a mountain road, and in winter the driver takes it steadily, because arriving safely matters more.
Bansko is 150 km and about 2:30 h away, Borovets 125 km and about 2 h. For both resorts Plovdiv Airport is a real alternative to Sofia Airport if you find a convenient flight to Plovdiv. Skis, snowboards and boots fit, but mention them when you book so we send a vehicle with enough space. For four people with ski gear a minivan is usually more comfortable.
From Plovdiv Airport to Sofia or Sofia Airport
If your flight was diverted or you have a connection from Sofia Airport, the transfer is 145 km and about 1:45 h on the Trakia motorway. It costs €100 by car for up to 4, €120 by minivan and €140 by minibus, the same to the city and to Sofia Airport.
