Hisarya is a small spa town in central Bulgaria, at the foot of the Sredna Gora hills, known for its mineral springs and its Roman town walls. Most visitors come for a week of treatments or a few quiet days in a spa hotel, and they all ask the same things: which airport to fly into, what the car costs, how much luggage fits and when to book. Prices: Sofia Airport → Hisarya

The price is for the whole car, not per person, and it is the same day and night. Four people in a car pay €30 each. The fare from Sofia city is the same as from the airport.

Prices: Plovdiv → Hisarya

We pick you up anywhere in Plovdiv – a hotel, an apartment, the railway or bus station – and drop you at the door of your hotel in Hisarya.

Prices: Plovdiv Airport → Hisarya

The Unitrans Plovdiv price list covers both Plovdiv city and Plovdiv Airport, so the fare from the airport is the same as from the city. The 50 km and one hour are counted from the city; the airport is south-east of Plovdiv, so the drive from there is a little longer.

Which airport is closer to Hisarya?

Plovdiv Airport is closer: about an hour to Hisarya and €50 by car. From Sofia Airport the drive takes over two hours and the car costs €120. Sofia, however, has far more international flights, so most spa guests land there. In short:

If you find a convenient flight to Plovdiv, you save time and money on the transfer. If not, Sofia is easy too: your driver meets you in the arrivals hall and you go straight to your hotel, with no change of bus or train in Plovdiv.

Arriving at Sofia Airport

Send us your flight number when you book. We track the flight, so if it lands early or late the driver is there when you come out. On request the driver can hold a name sign. All our drivers speak English, so just tell them if you need a short coffee or toilet break on the way.

The route

From Sofia Airport the car joins the Trakia motorway and heads east past Ihtiman and Pazardzhik towards Plovdiv. Near Plovdiv it leaves the motorway and drives north across the Thracian plain to Hisarya. It is a flat, easy road with no mountain passes – comfortable for older travellers and small children.

From Plovdiv it is a short drive north across the fields. From Plovdiv Airport we first go around the city and then head north.

Luggage for a spa stay: which car?

Spa guests usually travel with more than a weekend bag: clothes for a week, swimwear and robes, sometimes medicines or walking aids. Choose the car by the number of suitcases, not only by the number of people.

The driver helps with your luggage. If someone travels with a walking frame or a folding wheelchair, tell us when you book and we will send a car with enough room.

When to book

• As soon as you have your flight and hotel. Booking early is the calm option, especially for Fridays, Sundays, holidays and for a minivan or minibus.
• Late or night arrivals. We drive 24/7 and night transfers cost the same.
• Groups. For more than 8 people the price is on request – give us the number of people and suitcases a few days ahead.
• Last minute. Call us – we will tell you straight away whether a car is free for the time you need.

Back from Hisarya to the airport

We confirm the fare from Hisarya back to Sofia Airport or Plovdiv by phone – tell us your hotel and your flight time. For an international flight from Sofia, leave Hisarya at least 4.5–5 hours before departure: about 2h15 on the road, some spare time and check-in. For Plovdiv Airport about 3.5 hours is enough.
