It is located on a small peninsula which is connected with the land only by a long and narrow embankment. There of over 9000 years. In ancient Nessebar was fortified Thracian settlement; then – a Greek polis, then – colony. There are two parts – the Old Town and New Town.
Nessebar is best known for the old town (about 9000 years) on the peninsula. Nobody knows whether access to the Old Town is a natural or created artificially. Most of the buildings date from the 11th to the 14th century, almost all of them are picturesque churches.
Today the old part of the town has regained its original romantic atmosphere: narrow cobbled streets, small squares, two-storey houses with stone-ground floors and wooden upper floors jutting above the streets stairs, gift shops, restaurants, pubs and beautiful flower gardens.
