Driving time and route

The drive is almost entirely on the Trakia motorway (A1): out of Sofia past Vakarel and Ihtiman, on to Pazardzhik, past Plovdiv and off at the Stara Zagora exit. The last stretch is on the road into the city. Your driver picks you up at the airport or your address and drops you at the door, with no changes on the way.

When the road is slower

• Friday afternoon and Sunday evening. Weekend traffic leaves and returns to Sofia on the Trakia motorway.
• Summer. In July and August many people drive to the coast, especially on Saturday mornings.
• Winter. The section near Vakarel and Ihtiman is the highest part of the route, and snow or fog can slow it down.
• Roadworks. Single-lane sections are common. Our drivers know the road and plan for it.

Arriving at Sofia Airport

You do not need to go into the city first or change at the bus or train station. The driver meets you at the airport and heads straight for the Trakia motorway. Send us your flight number when you book. We track your flight, and if it is late the driver waits for you at no extra cost.

For a departure from Sofia, plan to leave Stara Zagora at least 4 h 30 min before take-off: about 2 h 30 min on the road and about 2 hours at the airport. For an early flight this often means leaving in the middle of the night. Our dispatch centre works 24/7, and the price is the same at night.
